SOLD - Hiro Ebata Guitars, Ex Somogyi, 2008 Ebata Model D, Newport/Miami Guitar Festival: Guitarist extraordinaire Russ Barenberg recently bought an Ebata exactly like this one. He demoed it here at the shop with his pal Bryan Sutton and we all marvelled at the huge, clear notes that make these guitars sound like Pianos. This is a superb solo instrument that will fill a room, but it also finds it's place amongst others in an ensemble or jam setting. Hiro learned his craft well from master Luthier Ervin Somogyi who has innovated many ideas on guitar voicing. He is building just 8-10 guitars per year at his workshop in Japan, but they are worth the wait. If you are after an amazing sound in the style of Somogyi, this is not to be missed. This instrument

"Piano-like overtones make this instrument special. It would be equally happy being played fingerstyle or with a flatpick. Big, beautiful sound." - Al Petteway
"We are fortunate to get many top recording artist as visitors and recently Russ Barenberg and Bryan Sutton were here and both were taken with the sound of an Ebata guitar just like this. Russ actually liked it so much he purchased it. Ervin Somogyi has long been a shop favorite for the wonderous voice of his instrument and Hiro apprenticed with Ervin for 2 years. He clearly paid attention and has his own style that grows from his time with the master luthier Somogyi. This guitar is mesmerizing and enchanting, it really takes you away as it fills the room with it's dreadnought like bass and some of the strongest, clearest trebles you've ever heard. If you are a solo fingerstylist this would be is a voice that commands attention, but it also strums and flatpicks with the best of them. This Ebata Model D is a big sounding guitar that somehow retains a balance of power." - Paul Heumiller

SOLD Hiro Ebata Model D: We first met Hiro Ebata when he was working with Ervin Somogyi. He is a brilliant man and an extraordinary craftsman. We are very excited to now offer his own instruments and in particular this lovely Ziricote guitar. The body wood sets the tone with it's sapwood center and side perfling created by mother nature. Hiro added an elegantly bound fingerboard and his stunning headstock which incorporates and front and back plate with mitered 'frames' on the sides. He clearly learned from Ervin how to make special instruments. You really hear the lineage when you play this guitar, huge Somogyi-style bass response and absolute bell-like trebles. This is special... This instrument

- Comments: "If you wish you bought a Somogyi years ago before his base price was $20,000 than you need to listen to this guitar. Hiro honed his craft in Ervin's shop and it shows. From the elegant cosmetic details, and there's many, to the big, open voice, the Somogyi lineage is clearly present. We love this guitar!." - Paul Heumiller
"The size of the body makes
this guitar a killer guitar for flatpicking.
It's loud and clear and can take whatever
you dish out. On the other hand it's sweet
and sparkly when played fingerstyle. It's
a good all around instrument for someone
looking to buy a handmade guitar that will
do everything and do it well." - Al Petteway
