Here we have an astounding 2005 Maingard GC with some tremendous wood and lovely appointments. It was custom built for a friend of Marc Maingard’s family and is quite special. For starters, there is a stunning set of Brazilian Rosewood with beautiful color and just enough sapwood to add some drama to the back. The top is extremely silky European Spruce which brings its power and beauty to the voice.
It is replete with a cutaway and front and back bevels for ultimate comfort and playability. The rosette is a highly customized Abalone Triangles design that really sets off this guitar. Acoustically, this Grand Concert is explosive. Maingard’s voicing gives each string an incredible pop, so played fingerstyle or with flatpicks the guitar can fill an entire house, let alone a room. We’re not convinced that this guitar actually has a ceiling, so we’ll just have to keep playing it for a few more hours (or days) to find out.
It's no secret that I love Marc's work. He builds a versatile and completely satisfying guitar with rich tone, clarity and power. His armrest and ribrest bevels are among the most elegant in the business and really make his guitars comfortable beyond compare. This GC, for example, holds like an OM. The woods here are first rate and beautiful: Brazilian Rosewood, European Spruce. Marc builds each guitar like a giant firecracker, and this one's got more pop and sizzle than you'll know what to do with. 
I love the rosette on this Maingard, it's unique and beautiful. The wood is top notch and the tone is equally magnificent with a solid midrange focus and an evenly balanced tone in all octaves.I really like the double bevels on this guitar and the overall playing comfort.
