Brazilian Rosewood back and sides with some sweet figuring pairs with Adirondack Spruce on top for crispness, power, and headroom. This GS holds up handsomely under a heavier attack, thanks to this stiff Adi top. The voice combines a warm bass response with a wide midrange and focused trebles for a clean, dynamic response. The GS body occupies that sweet spot between big and small, allowing the player an extensive palette of different tunings and attacks.

A fantastic example of Dan Bresnan’s fine lutherie in action! This is one of Dan’s OMs from 2006, here in Brazilian Rosewood and German Spruce, that’s ready to keep playing. Dan employed one of his mosaic rosettes to up the visual ante, and elsewhere adopted an understated aesthetic that lets the various woods shine. Alessi tuners, Ameritage case, and a frankly effortless playability make this a great guitar for fingerstyle. The voice is first and foremost well balanced, letting complex chords ring out properly, and we especially like how that clarity and balance is maintained up the neck.

We just can’t keep these on the shelf! Or in the case, as it turns out. Dan and Sean Bresnan are just killing it these days with the new builds they’re sending our way. We’re caught between a rock and a hard place: keep this 2021 OM for ourselves, or do the right thing and find it’s happy new home. A crisis! But we think you should have it. This features another set from Dan’s old Brazilian Rosewood stash, and is here paired with Swiss Moonspruce on top for that characteristic glassy sound and smooth clarity we’ve come to expect from Bresnan Guitars. The setup is also silk smooth and effortless, and with a long scale 25.4” setup this OM has just the right amount of pop and snap in the bass and mids to really make it sing. The rosette is a gorgeous number win BRW and Koa, and elsewhere Bresnan lets the quality of the woods speak for themselves, rather than inlay a ton of pearl. We love the understated aesthetic that that brings about. It’s like every facet of this guitar, tonally and visually: graceful and effortless.

We found the balanced response worked well for both fingerpicking and flatpicking, and the setup is an easy peasy one that feels effortless in Standard or DADGAD. Of course this one is decked out in Dan’s primo Brazilian Rosewood and European Spruce, here with a #1 rosette in BRW and Satinwood and Alessi tuners. Weighs in right at 4.5lbs, comes wrapped in a custom Ameritage case, and this Bresnan is ready for more action!

At last, our latest Bresnan GS has arrived. Hats off to Dan and Sean! Top notch Brazilian Rosewood with German Spruce (one of our favorites), Alessi tuners for an elegant touch at the headstock, and their flawlessly executed #3 rosette for the soundhole. Ebony bindings, 25.4” scale, and a custom Ameritage case for stylish safety. The voice is characterized by a lively energy and smooth trebles. It’s really a lovely instrument for fingerstyle; notes have a sweetness and roundness to them. Frankly, every aspect of this GS model is smooth, from the neck carve to the high gloss Nitrocellulose finish. This Bresnan is a fantastic example of understated aesthetics and a modern voice.

Dan Bresnan is back in business, with his son Sean right beside him at the bench. We are excited for our first brand new 2020 Bresnan GS! Jaw-dropping beautiful Brazilian Rosewood back and sides with a pale German Spruce top—yes, please. This GS is a fabulous fingerstyle instrument; deep and enveloping bass response paired with a full and potent treble register, and sweet clarity in between. It soaks up DADGAD like butter to bread, and tastes twice as rich. The short scale neck sweetens up the voice and keeps playability smooth and easy. Custom Alessi tuners are easy on the hands and the eyes, as is the Fossilized Walrus Ivory used for the nut, saddle, and bridge pins. The crown to this beauty? Bresnan’s interwoven mosaic rosette with Brazilian Rosewood, Koa, and Walnut.

Dan and Sean Bresnan have a profound love for music.
Both fell in love with the guitar at a young age, and have found it to be a continual source of joy and comfort in their lives. It is their hope to help bring this feeling out in other musicians through their craft of lutherie.
Dan’s background includes the study of music at NYU, professional experience as a recording engineer, and over 35 years as a performing guitarist. Dan brings together all of these experiences along with his unique sensitivity to the physical and inspirational effects of playing an instrument. Sean followed in Dan’s footsteps, studying guitar performance at Berklee College of Music and playing professionally before beginning his apprenticeship with his father. He’s driven to learn all that he can, match his father’s precision, and to elevate the Bresnan Guitars legacy for years to come.
The Bresnan’s believe the bond between a player and their instrument is paramount. The ease with which the guitar facilitates exciting tonal possibilities defines this relationship. For this ultimate goal to be achieved, Dan and Sean approach the entire building process as a pursuit of perfection, painstakingly ensuring the highest level of attention to detail.
