2011 Martin 0000 Custom Shop, Koa/Engelmann Spruce
A rare bird from C.F. Martin Guitars: a 2011 Custom Shop 0000 (that’s four zeros—also known as the Quad-O). At 16 inches across the lower bout, this is a hoss of a guitar. Imagine an OM with the air volume of a dreadnought.
Koa and Engelmann Spruce are the main ingredients here—an uncommon combination from Martin and a tonal treat. The fingerboard features an intricate and beautiful vine inlay, adding even more character to this already striking instrument.
This guitar is truly a bombastic work of art, with massive headroom and rich tone. It does just about everything above par. Grab it while you can.

Oh, to lose track of time with this piece of history. Our 1944 000-21 is a sweet dream made reality; last year Martin exclusively used Adirondack Spruce, and one of the last serial numbers to have scalloped braces; straight-lace Brazilian Rosewood back and sides; silk-smooth setup. The voice has the liveliness and depth that can only come with age, and is a treat to behold under both fingertips and flatpicks. 21-Style appointments throughout, herringbone rosette, and original case and finish, as are the bridge and plate.

Why, Georgia, why is this guitar so good? Oh, it’s a John Mayer Stagecoach Signature—that’s why. With 42-style abalone appointments, extra-wide spacing at both the nut and saddle (1 7/8″ and 2 5/16″), Cocobolo back and sides, and Sitka Spruce on top, this guitar is destined to be a classic collectible one day. It’s fun, easy to play, and just looks so dang good. Playing it feels like Slow Dancing in a Burning Room. Alright, we’ll stop with the John Mayer references.

Oh, the sweets to be had with a well played and wide awake Martin D-28. This beau comes from 1954–70 years young today–and has seen lots of musical action since then. We always love to see a guitar that hasn’t hidden in the shadows, but instead has been out and about and making music. We’ve got Spruce on top, Brazilian Rosewood back and sides with some nice spiderwebbing in the figure, and a number of solid repairs from years of use. The top has the marks to prove it, and the neck is worn in with an instantly familiar feel.
Ready to step into a vintage Martin that’s seen lots of music, and is ready for even more? Give us a shout to schedule a live demo, or take it home on trial.

A great example of an early ’50s Martin D-28 that’s been played a lot over the years, and is in great playing shape for many more to come. This one comes to us from the period when Martin was still using Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, by the 1950s they were using Sitka Spruce tops. There are some repairs, see our specs tabs for more details, but our repair staff have gone over this instrument from tuners to tail to confirm a clean bill of health. 1951 is a good year with this beauty in your hands.

This guitar has diamonds on the soles of its shoes, or at least its fingerboard. From 1997, we have a Martin OM-42 PS (Paul Simon), number 207 out of 500. East Indian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce, classic Martin appointments, and Paul Simon’s signature on the label and inlaid on the fingerboard extension. It could be the gravitas of Paul Simon’s association, but this OM-42 feels pretty dang special. An Indian Rosewood guitar that gives you a lot more than you’d expect: excellent response, clear, powerful, and quite frankly inspirational to play. Whether you’re a Paul Simon fan or simply a Martin OM fan, this guitar has a lot to offer.

A few years back, Martin ran a limited series of Golden Era models that were absolute powerhouses, and have since been followed by the established Authentic line (also great guitars!). Today we’ve got one such model, a D-28GE from 2000 that is accordingly wide awake and singing. Brazilian Rosewood back and sides with Adirondack Spruce top, herringbone trim and zigzag backstrip, soft V neck with proper prewar girth, and open back Waverly nickel tuners on a squared off headstock. In a word, gorgeous. Howard Klepper pulled off an excellent conversion job with this 2013 00-40 which began life in 1960 as a Martin 00-28G. Accordingly, quarter sawn Brazilian Rosewood with some delectable feathered figuring at the bout ends, with a new Red Spruce top and 14-fret neck. Klepper added 40-style Abalone trim along the top, as well as diamonds & snowflakes position markers, Rosewood bridge, and Ivoroid bindings. A light brown shade top finish pairs up with the richness of the Brazilian sides to a T.

A 2004 Martin 000-28 with Norman Blake’s name on it — you know it’s gotta be a killer instrument for Mr. Blake to sign off on it. And man, oh man, this one is sweet. Indian Rosewood for the back and sides, Adirondack Spruce on top — yes, you read that right. It features a 1 3/16″ nut width and a full neck profile for a comfortable, classic feel.
Equipped with an active L.R. Baggs Element pickup system, this guitar is ready for the stage or the studio. Whether you’re flatpicking, Travis picking, or playing singer-songwriter style, this guitar has you covered. It’s rare to find an instrument at this price point with such a high level of versatility. Classic Martin 0-28 from 1910. This player-grade piece of history perfectly demonstrates why vintage guitars are so highly sought after—there’s no denying the legitimacy of the ‘alchemy of time.’ Aged wood truly is good wood, and this guitar is a prime example.
With a wide nut at 1 7/8″, it’s a tonal dream for fingerstyle, folk, country, ragtime, and just about anything else. It sounds incredible, feels amazing, and we’re fortunate to have this classic Adirondack Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood gem in the shop. It even comes with the original coffin-style case. Here we have something truly special: a 1950 Martin D-28, previously owned by the one and only Norman Blake. Based on information gathered from those close to Norman, we believe this instrument was the guitar used on his first album, Back Home in Sulphur Springs. It is also believed to be featured on the album cover. The guitar made an appearance on The Johnny Cash Show and was used by Norman on John Hartford’s groundbreaking album Aereo-Plain.
In addition to these staggering accolades, this guitar was once owned by Roland White while he was performing with Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys. There isn’t a much higher level of notoriety that an instrument in the realm of Bluegrass can attain.
Featuring Brazilian rosewood for the back and sides, Sitka Spruce on the top, and even a rattlesnake rattle inside, this guitar—manufactured 74 years ago at the time of publication—has all the right mojo and lineage. This is a special instrument that was present for many formative moments in acoustic music history. This is the first time this guitar has been offered to the publish since 1985.
