2005 Tippin 000-12TC African Maho./Carpathian
This is a rare custom Tippin 000 12 Fret crafted from breathtaking Quilted African Mahogany and Carpathian Spruce. This is one of the prettiest 000s you’ll ever see. In Bill’s typical fashion he allowed the wood to shine on this one. This combination of woods give a great woody tone with good growl and lots of headroom. Carpathian behaves a lot like Adirondack Spruce. This is a superb guitar for blues, rags and Celtic music but you’ll use it for everything. A great Tippin.

A few years back I suggested to Bill Tippin that he would make an amazing Baritone guitar because of his wonderful clarity, power and rich tone. This prototype was the beginning and now Bill is regularly making wonderful Baritone guitars. This one features a relatively short 27″ scale which makes it ideal for C or B tunings depending on the string gauges employed and it also makes for a very easy reach. Guitarist seeking the lower voice will love this. It was made for the Newport Guitar Festival in 2006 and features beautiful Brazilian Rosewood coupled with a stunning German top. Custom purflings, bindings and fret markers dress it in the elegance of natural wood appointments.

The appointments are breath-taking and include “gem quality” Opal inlay, Bloodwood bindings, hand-made Koa top trim and a custom Brazilian bridge. This guitar is the perfect mix of power and beauty.

What makes this guitar so unique is the ‘curly’ Brazilian Rosewood. This is a rare figure for Brazilian, we’ve only ever seen a handful of guitars made with such wood. It is not only beautiful to behold with the eyes, but it has an amazing tone as well. I suspect the grain has some effect on the voice of the instrument, which is warm, full and huge. The 12 fret design puts the bridge in the prime position to really push this stunning Adirondack top. This a great flatpicker that is equally adept at fingerpicking and provides wide fingerstyle spacings at the nut and saddle. If you are after a big sounding fingerstyle guitar or a powerful D, this is for you.

Rick Toone’s eyes and ears have guided his lutherie career in incredibly unique directions from day one. Here we’ve landed a fabulous example of that with a particular “remix” of his T2 model from 2014. The T2 Remix combines Tele-style curves with a sleek, modern aesthetic and hardware, here a partially chambered Swamp Ash body with a Toone & Townsend tuning system and custom DiMarzio pickups from Steve Blucher. The neck is CNC fabricated from anodized aircraft Aluminum, as are all of the other components designed by Toone. The headless design also has an ulterior motive–the headstock doubles as a bottle opener (Ah!). The multiscale setup of 24.625” to 25.625” mixes a crisp Strat bottom end with LP trebles for easy bends. Frets are stainless (of course). The Blucher/DiMarzio pickups are wired with a 5-way switch and Tone Styler (StellarTone) 10-position tone pot. You’ve got an ocean of tones to dive into here.
