Here we have an absolutely stunning Dream Series guitar from our friend, Brian Applegate. Brian has truly arrived as a world class luthier and this is a wonderful example of his highly refined sensibilities. This particular set of Brazilian Rosewood and Euro-Spruce have combined to produce a guitar that is stunningly lively and open. Add to that Brian’s typically first-rate appointments (the graceful bevel, the intricate rosette…) and you have a work of art right there in your arms. Your jaw will drop when you hear how big this thing sounds. Caress it lightly with your fingers, stand back, and say “wow.” We all did.

Our Dream Series from Brian Applegate has been extremely popular. It’s little wonder since Brian puts together the finest Brazilian Rosewood and custom appointments including extraordinary inlays on the fingerboard and headstock, a custom twisted rosette, abalone top trim, headstock trim and backstrip. And this particular guitar features his new armrest bevel and soundport. On top of all that this one sports insanely figured Sapelle for the bindings, armrest and rosette. All of the colors blend perfectly and make this quite a satisfying beauty, but it also sounds as good as it looks; amazing clarity, shimmering highs, full, warm bass. This is a complete sound from one end of the spectrum to the other. Simply stunning in every way…

We asked Brian to build two of the Dream Series for us. They share the same exquisite appointments such the twisted band Rosettes, blue Paua inlays and side sound-port, however here you get the classic combination of Brazilian Rosewood and Adirondack Red Spruce.

Our customers are thoroughly enjoying the guitars of Brian Applegate. This time he’s sent us a real gem crafted from dramatic Ziricote with a sapwood stripe in the center of the back. He’s paired that with an Italian spruce to and together they offer clarity and sparkle with plenty of headroom.

The Weyman Jimmy Rodgers Special was originally designed back in 1927 and features Rib-Style Binding that we rarely see on guitars these days. Fast forward a few decades and John Arnold felt inspired to build a few of his own, and once you’ve held and played this one yourself it isn’t hard to see why: John’s gorgeous tribute to this unique instrument has a crisp, dry voice that swings big like the heavy hitters of the Pre-War Era. In John’s words, the Weyman Special is, “between a Martin and a Larson Brothers, tonally.”

Renowned both as a luthier and tonewood supplier, John Arnold picked out a great set of hand split Adirondack (Red) Spruce for this guitar that has Medullar Rays across the entire top, so you know it’s as perfect a cut as you can get. The Mahogany back and sides provide that nice midrange drive that so many players crave, and the setup is just perfect – as low as you can go without buzzing, even playing full force!
