2002 Bogdanovich OM Flame Maple/Engelmann
John ‘J.S.’ Bogdanovich is a great friend of ours and as it happens a premiere luthier of classical guitars, and the author of “Classic Guitar Making: A Modern Approach To Traditional Design”. This is a rare steel string crafted by John from highly figured Flame Maple that he had in his private stash. John topped it with Engelmann Spruce which adds a nice warmth to compliment the power of the Maple. And boy is it powerful, very responsive and lively. This is a strong guitar that excels at fingerstyle and can span genres from blues to rags to celtic and traditional. A great one…

Julius Borges is one of the top names in replicating vintage guitars, play this gorgeous L-00 and you won’t be left wondering why. The term “3d” gets thrown around often when describing the figure of wood, and frequently the wood falls short of the description. That is not the case here with this set of Figured Maple. It is so intensely figured it almost looks like it is made from crumpled up paper! Paired with a straight grain Adirondack (Red) Spruce top, this guitar has head room and power to spare. Play this guitar with a delicate touch and it is instantly ready to respond with clear trebles and mids with warmth not often heard from maple. This is a guitar that will knock your socks off for a lifetime.

Some guitars are born out of direct callaboration between a great player and a great builder. Such is the case with the Borges Barndance. Blues legend Paul Geremia asked Julius Borges to look over two 1930’s Gibson J-35s he had and to create his own take on the Slope D design. Anyone who knows Julius’ work knows that he is one of the very best at recreating the finest guitars of the past while adding his own personal touches as well. The result is an outstanding Slope D that is powerful and brilliant with the energy of an old guitar, but the soundness and accuracy of a new guitar. A few minutes on this guitar and it’s easy to see why players like Buddy Miller and Paul Asbell own Borges guitars. We are thrilled to offer you this Indian Rosewood Borges Barndance.
