When a guitar is named the banjo killer it has a lot to live up to, we expect power and volume without any sacrifice of tone. We have to say Dana Bourgeois hit the nail on the head when he named this particular guitar “The Banjo Killer.” If you are looking to stand out above the rest in a jam session, look no further, this Bourgeois will make sure everyone knows you are there. Yes it is loud, but it has a sweet side as well, try playing it lightly, it will surprise you with its sweet tones. Built from Bearclaw Sitka Spruce and Mahogany this Slope D has a great vintage vibe that Gibson enthusiasts will adore. We know it is hard to believe, but this guitar has certainly earned its title.

Here is a beautiful Bourgeois Soloist, which is an OM Cutaway design. This one features, Dalbergio Mysterioso, which means they think it’s Brazilian but can’t verify it. It sure looks and sounds like to us. The top is European Spruce adding to the power and clarity here. In typical Bourgeois fashion this guitar starts out in the Martin world of tone, but is sweeter, fuller and very pleasing to the ear. It plays very easily as well and has been well kept in excellent condition. If you are after a versatile guitar an OMC is perfect for you and this is a great one.

An amazing fingerstyle guitar, this 1997 Dana Bourgeois OMSC Custom OM 12 Fret features Brazilian Rosewood back. The European Spruce top completes this unique package and makes for a guitar with sweet, singing trebles and great, tight mids. It’s played in enough to really be open, so you get the best of this classic wood combination right now. The bound Mahogany neck is incredibly comfortable and the action couldn’t be smoother. Truly a remarkable instrument in every way; this Bourgeois is sure to please. It’s little wonder Dana’s guitars are played by such notables as Ricky Skaggs, Bryan Sutton and Martin Simpson.

That’s right – this seriously fine Bourgeois D-150 Custom guitar was “played in” on stage by none other than Ricky himself. For a guitar with such a rich past, it’s in great shape, and heart-stopping tone. Words fail to describe the big authentic tone of this guitar. The Brazilian Rosewood is superb and has some lovely sapwood stripes and rich grain. The Adirondack top is wide grained, perfect for bluegrass. If you’re a fan of Dana Bourgeois, or a fan of Ricky — don’t let this one slip away! It’s that good!

Bryan Sutton is a friend of our shop and visits when he’s playing in town. He’s been here when we had one of these Banjo Killers that he inspired and it’s obvious he’s very proud of them. Dana Bourgeois delivers nicely here with a large guitar that sounds crisp and articulate (and never the least bit tubby). The figured mahogany sides and back deliver some punch and warmth, and the silky Sitka Spruce offers up just enough sparkle and shine. This is a rare guitar as they made only a few. She’s extremely playable and always great fun to pick up.

The Jumbo OM fills a wonderful niche for players who demand a balanced voice, but want just a bit more bottom end and punch. This one has the patina of age on it’s top and it’s gorgeous voice. The Rosewood and Spruce body is very responsive and lively. Players with a light touch will be rewarded with plenty of tone but players who like to hit hard will be equally satisfied.
