This babe is a dyed-in-the-wool knockout, with its solid Mahogany back and sides and tight-grained Engelmann Spruce top and Tortoise bindings. For such a little fellow, this 2011 Collings Baby packs quite a punch, with great sustain from the small body. In playing this guitar, one is impressed by the fact that if feels more like a parlor guitar, and less like a travel guitar. Perhaps because of its tight waist. Or perhaps because it sounds so rich and full that you hesitate to call it a travel guitar at all. With a voice this clean and clear, you might start bringing it with you all over town. Lastly, this little gem comes with the original hardshell case, so you can rest assured that it will come to no harm when you store it in the overhead bin on the airplane.

If you’ve ever played a Collings Dreadnought, you know what to expect: a cannon in your lap, lots of projection, flatpicker’s heaven. This, friends, is a bit different; its almost an anomaly. This 1995 D2H BRA is mellow, well-rounded, balanced response across the registers. Thanks to the Brazilian Rosewood back and sides opening up especially evenly and the naturally more warm Adirondack Red Spruce, this D2H BRA is surprisingly clean and easy to play. Honestly, this Dreadnought is more sensitive to fingerstyle than many other guitars in this size range. Collings‘ customary Herringbone trim and zigzag back strip are showcased here, paired nicely with bbindings. This guitar comes with the original Collings TKL hardshell case.

This killer dreadnought is decked out in a gorgeous figured Brazilian Rosewood back and sides and a choice Adirondack Spruce top styled with a dark sunburst. This custom dread comes with Collings’ premium varnish finish, which aside from having a smooth and clean face has the added bonus of being thinner than any other finish, which lets the top and back vibrate more freely and enhances the tone and gives the guitar even more volume. This dread has a warm, woody tone and responds well to an aggressive attack, devouring the immediate sound space with it’s projection. This Collings comes with a McIntyre Feather pickup and the original TKL hard case.

This Collings All Mahogany, All Burst, Haircut Headstock CJ is a guitar with something to say, and multiple means of expressing itself. Starting with the dark, smoky burst finish, you feel pulled towards it as soon as you enter the room. Taking it off the wall, the Mahogany box sings low and sweet, making you want to listen ever more closely as you get to know one another.
But that soft, smooth voice is only one half of the coin: dig in and strum and this guitar sounds like it’s ready to tear down a drag strip at full throttle. Seriously, it seems like there is no end to how loud this thing can get!

We found this guitar to be wonderfully versatile it fingerpicks as well as it flatpicks and that makes this a hands down winner in our book.

We have rarely had this much fun playing a guitar here in the shop, the combination of the small body and the shorter scale make this one of the easiest twelve strings we have ever played. The smaller body works surprisingly well for a twelve strings, the octave strings shine through the way they should giving this guitar a perfect shimmering chorus effect.
